"I'm looking forward to making this team and doing good and putting up some wins for this team," said Miller, who pitched 3 1-3 innings, giving up four runs -- three earned -- on six hits. He struck out two and walked none.

The Mariners took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Mike Morse, who finished 2-for-4 with a double. Seattle catcher Rene Rivera was 2-for-3.

The Cubs sent 11 men to the plate in the bottom of the first against Ryan Feierabend. Soriano led off with his homer. Theriot doubled and came home on Lee's single. Ramirez followed with his third homer of the spring, a drive to left field.

Barrett hit a three-run homer in the second after Lee and Ramirez singled with one out.

Willie Bloomquist and Jeremy Reed opened the top of the third with singles. They scored on a home run to left field by Adrian Beltre. It was Beltre's second homer of the spring.

The Cubs batted around in the fourth, with Barrett hitting a solo homer.

Feierabend worked two innings, giving up nine hits and eight runs. He walked one and struck out one.

Notes@: Seattle reliever Renee Cortez left the game after one inning with a strained right groin. ... Cubs RHP Ryan Dempster, their closer, is scheduled to pitch one inning Tuesday in Tucson against the Colorado Rockies. Dempster has not pitched since March 13 because of spasms near his right shoulder blade. Dempster described the injury as a "knot" in the muscle.
